Catalogue number #996 | Seligmannite on Galena with Sphalerite and Quartz |
Palomo Mine, Castrovirreyna Province, Huancavelica Department, Peru Price £195 | Dozens of glittering black seligmannite crystals <0.5mm are scattered over galena, in places forming flat radial clusters reaching 2mm across. The galena crystals are well formed modified octahedra reaching over 1.5cm across, interprown with lustrous sphalerite and quartz. Excellent combination and aesthetics and a superbly rich in seligmannite, a rare lead bearing sulphosalt. One galena is cleaved and some contacts at the edges but mostly perfect. Displays beautifully on a stand as photographed. |
